so where is Muklag in the grimoire?
The müklac was written after the Monster Grimoire, but you can get it stat block and lore for free (alongside a few others) in the description of this vid: ua-cam.com/video/p4RLpORVHx4/v-deo.html
Can you help me run mummies in DND
I used the characters of soul reaver as my vampire circles skeleton. But eventually, they just became their own characters . As long as you’re earnestly not trying to just straight up, copy but create, you’ll figure it out .
I mean...it depends on the god they serve and the kind of angel they are tho, right? Like an angel of vengeance for a spiteful god would absolutely have the "all are guilty, all will repent" sort of vibes. Also depends on monotheism or polytheism, I'd guess.
Hey my man, where could a guy get ahold of this fallow heart map. 3:37
Figured you guys would at least wait for the new edition to be out before putting your money on it with your products.
This is an amazing video for vampires. My players will hate you.
Oh my GOD! You blew my mind with "zombies are more like a mage hand" and using the undead fortitude as more of a creepy storytelling opportunity than simply a frustrating fight mechanic for players. SO deadly and cool!!
Maybe a horn or tooth taken from a dragon could produce a musical Horn or Ocarina that can cast Dragon's Breath or the Fear spell a number of times equal to half the dragon's proficiency bonus and you need to spend gold and cast those spells on it everyday for 3 days
Welp, who wants to buy some unused and now obsolete Grim Hollow stuff?
Reading up chaos theory is a good start. Plant the seeds, set the stage and let the players lead with their actions. Made a dark fantasy home brew involving Gargoyles, make it a simple discovery quest for knowledge. Give a few clues on objects, parchments or investigations. Have the npc give a little lore dump now then just enough to make it tedious but enough to work with as the exploration happens. Give them a reality check when you add tension towards a moment that was waiting to be unraveled as the nature of these very gargoyles share the build up of horrors.
When it comes to resurrections, as a dm, it is allowed but at a cost. Sometimes it can be physical from how one died. Other times can be mentally or spiritually. As for good people using spells, yes easily but it comes down to settings. 1. ) the nature of why the spell is needed. 2. ) is the caster willing to accept consequences should it go awry or potentially change the story going forward. 3. ) their are no real good or bads, for it’s how best it is used in a life or death situation. Lichdom for example, yes in a good sense he will remain with you for the rest of your life past the campaign but the bad news is he will outlive cause his soul is contained and cannot move on to the life after and… isolation can do horrible things to a hero that dims overtime. “ 4. ) is it worth knowing the spell at all?
I run three games a week. A few months ago a bunch of neighbors got together and asked on FB if there was a DM in the neighborhood who would be willing to run a game once a month for 8 players of varying experience. I thought about it, and realized how much of a recluse I had become since lockdown. I felt it would be good for me to get out and socialize a bit, so I offered my services. I had not considered the logistics of running at an actual tabletop again (all of my other games are online now). Honestly it was a bit of a pain in the butt to gather all the materials and lug them around. Luckily the group ended up being a lot of fun /and/ they wanted to pay me. I had never charged for DnD so I threw out the arbitrary number of $100 for a four hour session. They immediately agreed. I think I might have undersold myself, but it's cool. They also have a ton of food every time I play with them and send me home with leftovers. I couldn't imagine doing it full time though, after investing so much into my other games. When would I sleep?
This may not be a topic your channel covers but in my game my players voted for me to run an oppression based storyline, would you be able to make some videos off of this to help us understand it better?
Could this work with Alhoons?
My wallet is now begging me for mercy.
So exciting!
This makes me happy and sad, just bought the old books like 2 months ago and have spent a lot of hours to set up a obsidian wiki for it. Hope it will be a lot of overlap so that work wasn't for nothing :P
You bring Mythic Ability to Dnd 5
A whole setting about fighting against an entire court of mutha fuckas that want to ice skate up hill... sign me up.
I hope there will be a Demonic Ancestry in the new Player's Guide, I've been sitting on a Tiefling Monster Hunter based on Hellboy for a while now and I want to see how I can implement him with your Heritage System.
Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. And as it beholds you, it will soon be in you too.
If i'm to blame , i regret nothing .
For those who pre-ordered it there is for download a v1.0 In your download section. It would have been great if whe got a email to be aware of the download. I found it just becouse I wanted to cancel my order becouse it was made almost a year ago without any update or a release date in plan. It's a good book but I don't think is that hard to copy paste the mails of those who preorder it then and send a mail with something like The V1. 0 is now avaible for download.
I'm making it so there is a curse where humans develop a greed and turn into dragons, gaining abilities to show that a dragon can be anything in reality
So how worth it are these books going to be for people that have no intent on switching to the 5.5 rules?
Very excited. Would love to also see a surprise PF2e translation in the stretch goals!
Fight back against corporate, woke D&D (and Star Wars) by attending VENGER CON III: Revenge of the OSR next month in Madison, WI.
Sweet! More books for my library!
I’m so pumped for this! You guys are my favorite third-party publisher! I wish I could like… pre-pledge to this kickstarter- like pre-ordering. I know the quality will be S-tier and that we’re all going to love it!
I would pay good money for a full module pdf of this!
We finally get a Dhampir NPC in official GFG content!!! Woohoo!!!
5:55 Witcher Watch!
"the party ranger has no hope" vs me, the party (gloomstalker) ranger, intentionally going into the feywild to become a twilight cleric lol
Will any of the new material work for core 5e? I dont reslly jive with 2024 5e.
I'm down with the plan, we're just finishing up a long run in the Valikan North (Frostmaiden Campaign) and the party want to fix up the Dark Duches and head south, Burach Empire and Ostoya, so any extra fleshed out campaign or adventures there in would be kindly appreciated. Specific points of interest regarding magic and a licence to cast from Erlfort (Hogwarts?) and Castalore (mysterious Wizard tower Game of Thrones) would be wicked. Thanks again, from the brother of Bocho.
Rock n Roll, I'm down with much of what you are saying here. Things to take away from the homebrew and reaching level 14 through our 2 year Grim Hollow campaign. -Deadly Damage- + cool when characters lose limbs, monsters get stunned, long lasting effects. - slows down game play, alot if overused, so best to save just for specific situations ie. character went to 0 hp, or damage between 50+ points from one source. Not for use with creatures who have less than 60hp to begin with, so mid to high tier unlock. -Curses-Tranformations-Malidictions-Plagues-Contagions-Diseases- Have been a cornerstone in our Grim Hollow Campaign, HP's always come back, but hard restrictions on lesser/greater restoration & remove curse + quest requirement to solve is an excellent mechanic. -Last Stand- Death Mechanics are very cool. Similar to the new DC20, characters fight on while making death saves. Can only do one thing, move 10ft (if possible), use an action, bonus action, on turn reaction... last words upon the last failed death save. -Expanded Insanity/Madness/Corruption- Using the three tiers of madness from the 5e DMG, expand the list of crazy zany things that happen through all 9 boxes. Retiring a character to "Loftlorian" for 5-10 game sessions the only solution to curing lost sanity. Rare item "Serum of Sanity" reduce 1 box of sanity/corruption and it's effects for 2d10 hours, upon which the box and effects return. DC 13 Wis sanity/corruption check from, touching shadowsteel/delirium/chardalyn. From going down to 0 hp and coming back. From encountering truely horrific monsters, from taking psychic damage, basically anything eldritch and HP Lovecraftian.... Phantasmal Killer spell.. hideous laughter,... specter possession etc.. -Haywire Spell Scrolls- DC 10 + spell level arcana check to use a spell scroll. Fail = fizzle, Fail by 5 = chaos magic from the wildmagic list (or new list). I'll resend via the playtest 1 dolla offa, but just had to get this out there in the moment cause I'm so stoked about the update! Oh and yes, all brand new ART from the folks who did the Monster Grimoire and the original Campaign Guide... I think it's the ones with the Spanish and Eastern European sounding names that make my favorite pieces,... maybe the artist signature below on full page work.
Grim Hollow 2: Fantasy Boogaloo
The moment you said Kickstarter I was like “yup I’m in”
You lot are ace!
would you guys ever consider making alternative versions of the book for PF2e, as I love your content but I am playing pf2e more then dnd now. Also will people who have the old version of a book get a discount off of the new one?
Make it happen Ben! I love your delivery in these videos and I love the Grimm Hollow setting. This would be an outstanding addition to an already excellent setting. I would add, while I am pleased with the 5e rule set, I don't necessarily like the direction the softer direction D&D has moved in general terms. Grimm Hollow gives me the gritty, dark, a challenging feeling I like in my game. Not everyone wants to be a fairy princess. Although I would think Grimm Hollow's fairy princess would stab you in the neck with a poisoned blade as you kiss her, awakening her from her slumber.
I would love to see a subclass about choosing mutations for yourself, or taking powers from monsters. A fleshcrafter. (Side note: I think the misfortune rogue would be great for a warlock too)
Excited for the transformations. I know one detail that bugged me a little was the Devil transformation. I understand the concept of the deal maker devil, but part of me really wanted the powerful brute like demon. I am excited to see where this goes.
Are we getting this as a printed adventure module? That would be great as I really want to try and run something in this world that was made for it.
So, I have the players guide and campaign guide. Are those now useless due to these updates books coming out? And I am thankful that there will be more. I hope the settlements get polished up with details and it’s cool to hear the lore is being refined.
Years back, I made a homebrew that was different reality that was very far from the continuity. For when it came to dragons... they were indeed wealthy but the obsession wasn't in the wealth, it was through the very people each dragon held as their very hoard themselves. Since in this world where gods or primordials had no real presence, they were the embodiment of either divinity or damnation, conquerers or saviors that pend on whom proved mightier. The dragonborns of many were the next of kin and each dragon ruled their kingdoms with either furious will or by gentle understanding. Red dragons ruled the forge mountain that stemmed deep into the very outermantle of that world, basking in metals many as they praise its own military. The green dragons ruled the forests and lead the elves and beastsmen alike, tending to the agriculture as well become hunters and bandits. The black dragons rule over the untended swamps with the grungs and plasmoids, gorgans and aboliths, worshipping only the wickedness of nature. Two white dragons rule the northern and southern peaks of this world. But both being twins they rule with stern discipline, raising barbarians, giants, trolls, orcs, all their lives until war indeed comes one day. And the ruler of the dessert lands of barren dust bowls are the worse offenders of all, they revel in unraveling ancient societys long past their reigns, using their knowledge in alchemy, the medusa's in the cover of storms hunt down the metallic dragons as a means of sport, even gem dragons were not safe from them. This world I called droyd is one that has only thing. Humans are nearly extinct, magic itself if earned must become a religious practice as a pilgrimage, to earn the favor of these rulers to weild magic. Should a dragon also die in this world, the dragon born whom proves itself in ritual combat triumphs becomes the new lord, but its a very rare.
Why would you need to make rules for 5.5E, it's supposed to be backwards compatible so you don't have to?
